How do I begin to write a song? . Usually, I start with a title or an idea. The title can be both. I wrote a song last month called "Man in the Mirror", Yes, I stole this title from Michael Jackson. Are the two songs similar? Yes, about the only thing they have in common is they both have the same title and me and Michael Jackson are about the same age. (if he were still alive.) My song is about reflection. There is a verse in the Bible that talks about a person seeing their reflection and not changing what they see. Mine is a story about a man wanting to change what he see's in the mirror. The whole song concentrates on this one theme. Or it is suppose to? Sometimes I get sidetracked with other ideas.
