I like the TV program called Behind the Music. I love stories. I like to hear what was going on in people's lives that caused them to write a song. Stories about how God worked in people's lives. I like to see how God works and blesses people. I wrote a song called, I'll pray for you. Last Saturday I played my song for a local chapter meeting of Nashville Songwriter Association International or NSAI. (less typing using initials) Here are the lyrics to the song. I prayed for peace but trouble came. I wanted sunshine but He sent rain. I want it now and I heard wait and see I prayed for others and He answered me. Chorus- I'm praying for my boss, and his aching back. I'm praying for the guy at church that had that heart attack. I'm praying for the poor. The family next door. I'll pray for you, I'll pray for you, I'll pray for you, you pray for me. I prayed for myself, my wants and needs and He blessed others and ignored me. I wanted wealth and a easy life. He gave me children and a loving wife. Chorus- Bridge- God blessed Job when he prayed for his friends. God did it then, he can do it again. Chorus I wrote this song about my own selfishness when I pray. Maybe you can relate also. One of the songwriters commented on the lyrics. He said, " I don't know how accurate your song is. You might need to check your facts. " I told him that it was taken from the Bible. Job 42:10 When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before! Do you think God wants us to pray for our friends? I do.
