The things that I share are different than some people. Have you ever noticed how everybody's life is rosy on face book? Okay, to be fair it is not everybody but it is definitely the majority. We see vacation pictures, birthday parties, anniversaries, pictures of fancy delicious food, and the list goes on and on. I recently went to Nashville and auditioned for my second time to play at the Bluebird Cafe. Drum roll, and, and, and, I didn't make it. What do I do now? Well, I will keep trying.
I did learn a lesson while I was standing in line. I have played at a writer's night at the Commodore Grille in Nashville. It is a bigger venue in a nicer location but it is not as famous or as recognizable. I was talking to a fellow songwriter at the Bluebird audition and she commented that I should play there again. All I would need to do is set up a date and time. Both venues are doing the same thing but I was chasing the opportunity that had a closed door instead of using the door that was already open. I still need to send that email. I better get to looking at my work schedule to see what week might be a good week to go.
Final thoughts. I am grateful for the opportunity to play at the Commodore Grille. I will pursue that opportunity but I still haven't given up on the Bluebird.
