I am a big Eric Church fan. One song that I really love of his is Springsteen. Eric does a great job of connecting a song with a memory. That is what I was attempting to do with my song called Bobby McGee.
My attempt could have some flaws that Eric's song doesn't. Everybody know who Bruce Springsteen is? Or almost everyone.. Not everyone will remember the song Me and Bobby McGee. Especially the younger crowd. They won't know that the song was written by Kris Kristofferson. Kris was a fantastic songwriter. So I am afraid I might be dating the song by choosing this title.
The reason I chose this title is because I like the way it sings. Try it, sing Bobby McGee. It just kinda flows. So that is my reason for writing to this title. Check it out, Listen to it. Provide feedback if you want.
Bobby McGee
Took you on a first date, on a drive down to the pond
Kissed you in my bronco, held you in my arms
Crank up the radio, to a seventies song
Saw what love was as you sang along to
Bobby McGee, oh, Bobby McGee
You and Janis Joplin, singing sweetly
Bobby McGee, oh Bobby McGee
It’s a love song about you and me.
It's a love song about you and me.
Bought a used guitar, at a pawn shop real cheap
Long hair rock star gave me lessons for free
I kept it a secret, learning our favorite tune
Waiting for the time when you could hear me play
Bobby McGee, oh, Bobby McGee
You and my guitar, singing sweetly
Bobby McGee, oh, Bobby McGee
It’s a love song about you and me.
It's a love song about you and me.
Oh, I believe, you want me to be
Oh, I believe, you want me to be your
Bobby McGee, oh, Bobby McGee
You and my guitar, singing sweetly
Bobby McGee, oh Bobby McGee
It’s a love song about you and me
It’s a love song about you and me
It’s a love song, about you and me.
