I am always listening for song ideas. I get them from so many different places. Yesterday, I was on instagram and I heard someone say , Men are like flatbed trucks. They drive straighter with a heavy load. I love that line. Let me tell you why. That first half sounds like a true man. Rugged, solid, and hardworking. A man's man. Yeah, I'm a flatbed truck.

The second half is great also. They drive straighter with a heavy load. I love this too. It is saying, the more responsiblities that I have the better. When life is hard, I am staying focused on the road because I have to. The more I stay focused on the road, the easier life is.

So where would I go from here. I like to ask myself, where am I at in this story. Do I have a personal story that flatbed trucks go with?  Probably a couple stories . lol My Dad owned an old Ford 1980 something, beater flat bed. He bought it to use on the farm. After he sold the farm he kept it. It was alot like my Dad. Rugged, solid, hardworking, and it had a few scars over the years. Like all trucks and men get. 

Do I have a story for the second line?  They drive straighter with a heavy load. I saw a clip on facebook that was talking about boys becoming men. In some tribes, men had to do something to become a man. Maybe, Kill a lion with a spear. Something dangerous and significant. 

The article went on to talk about how in America there is another stage. We go from boy to adolescent then to manhood. This is a problem. During the adolescent years, it is a time without focus. Maybe still living in your parents bedroom and playing video games. Dating girls that are not marriage material. Hanging out with friends and life is passing you by. Okay, enough of the ranting. Time to get off my soapbox. lol

At eighteen my girlfriend got pregnant. It was time to grow up. I already had a full time job but now it was time to get an apartment and health insurance. Time to sell my motorcycle. This was my boy to man moment. Now, I will repeat my line- Men are like flatbed trucks, they drive straighter with a heavy load. Now all I gotta do is write the song about it.
