On the last journal I wrote down the name of the Music publishing company on a piece of paper. I say, piece of paper but it was probably one line in a notebook on my desk. Not so bad if you only have one. Sometimes I have more than one. I looked through and was not able to find it. I did remember that is was called Amar. So I did a google search and found out it was Ammar Music Group. I need to work on my organization skills. lol
One of the hardest parts of this job is deciding which song you want to use. Ammar was looking for commercial country music. Commercial country is the term used for Country music that we hear on the radio today. If you can't imagine your song playing on the radio station, they can't either. This reduces the number of songs that I had available to send in.
They are looking for songs that everybody can relate to. Songs about love, falling in love, breaking up, drinking, cheating, kissing a girl, coming home, etc. Common things that we can relate to but that are done differently and uniquely. In the past year I had been focusing on writing more songs like this. I decided to pitch- Something I can see, Linwood Cafe, and No time son.
Something I can See is a love song. Linwood Cafe is a song about small town life and No time Son is about the lessons learned from teaching your kids to ride a bike. So I sent my lyrics and MP3's to get them listened to.
Rejection is part of the business. I will hear more no's than yes's. I can handle the no's and yes's but the waiting is the hardest part. Let's wait and I'll share more later
