Beets don't taste like chocolate cake. That is the reason that I don't eat beets. I probably should eat beats. My Mom and Dad were beet lovers. They must be good for you. My Dad lived to be ninety-five and Mom was ninety-four. Dad must of liked beets a little more than Mom.

    Mom would make them regularly. They were a side dish on the table at dinner and lunch time. Mom always liked to ask me, "Jim, do you want some beets?" That line always made me laugh. No, I didn't want beets and she knew that I didn't want beets. I used to say, "I'll pass." and smile. I needed a better response. So this is the one that I started using. I said, "Mom, I had beets for breakfast so I think I'm gonna pass." Her and Dad would both laugh. 

      My son, Jeremy eats beets. I don't know if he eats beets but he drinks beets. He mixed them in with his smoothies. He told me that if you add beets to your smoothies. Your smoothies will always be the dark red  beet color. I don't drink smoothies either. What happened to me? I am surrounded by healthy people who care enough about their health that they eat and drink beets. I am going to eat my chocolate cake and pretend it is a bowl of beets. Will that work?
